Ben Schattenberg had a big day at Saturdays FCPS/CMC Championship meet.
The sophomore laid claim to a pair of titles and took home a few records as well.
The sophomore first broke the FHS recorded in the 100 Freestyle with a time of 48.26 on his way to a 1st place finish in the event. Alumnus Will Parker had previous held the Cadet record with a time of 49.26 set back in 2010.
Next Schattenberg took aim at a personal goal for himself in the 100 backstroke. Ben not only took down his own school record in the event with a time of 53.05 but also the county and CMC record previously held by Catoctin’s Remmington Oland who swam a 53.09 in 2017.
The surprise of the day however was Frederick’s 200 medley relay team of Schattenberg, , Trevor DeLauder, Michael DeGirolamo, Mason Bator who would finish with a second place finish with a time of 1:43.54.
DeLauder a freshman would take 3rd for the Cadets in the 100 breaststroke.
The Cadets would finish in 3rd place in the Central Maryland Conference Spires Division and 5th overall in the County.
