Frederick High School’s football team has earned a #8 seed in this years MPSSAA 3A West Football Playoffs.
Frederick will travel to the #1 seeded Linganore Lancers on Friday November 8th. (Time TBD).
Frederick did not face Linganore during the regular season, the only Frederick County team that was not on the Cadets schedule.
The Cadets beat out Tuscarora for the #8 and final regional playoff spot by 1 MPSSAA win points. FHS defeated the favored Titans 47-46 in an offensive shootout back on October 11th.
2019 will mark the Cadets first playoff appearance since the 2004 season. A year which saw the Cadets finished the regular season 9-1, then defeating Seneca Valley in the first round of the playoffs. Frederick would then fall to eventual state champion Northwest in the region final. A game many around the state considered to be the actually state championship game.
Frederick missed out on the playoffs in 2007 by 1 point despite posting a 9-1 on field record.
When asked his thoughts on taking Frederick to the playoffs for the first time in 15 years Head Coach Kevin Pirri commented, “It Feels great. We’re glad to have this opportunity.” He added that he is very excited to see how his team works this week during practice and on Friday night.
