The Frederick News-Post has placed four Cadets on its 2019 All-County Baseball Team. Released Wednesday the FNP named senior pitcher/infielder Tanner Dixon along with sophomore pitcher Brady MacDonald to its second team. Junior pitcher/infielder Nikolas Stuntz and sophomore catcher Kyle Brown were named honorable mention.
Dixon who will continue his baseball career next year at Division II Shepherd University lead FHS in strikeouts with 44 in 32.1 innings pitched. The four year starter also hit a team best .302.
MacDonald had a sensational sophomore campaign, leading FHS in wins and innings pitched, to go along with 34 strikeouts and a 2.74 era.
Struntz capped off his junior year with a 2.71 era on the mound for the Cadets. Offensively the speedster scored a team high 16 runs. His 17 stolen bases in 2019 places him in 5th all-time in single season stolen bases.
Brown established himself as a stellar defensive catcher for Frederick during his sophomore season. He picked off 16 opposing base runners while attempting to stealing, while posting the second highest batting average for the Cadets at .297
