Frederick High School’s rising junior catcher Kyle Brown has recorded this summers fastest High School catcher pop time in the state of Maryland.  Brown who attended Prep Baseball Reports Maryland Top Prospect Games West event, recorded his 2.01-2.03 laser of a time at the June 26th event held at Mount St. Mary’s. Joe Lokos of Avalon High School also mirrored Brown’s time.

According to Wikipedia a catchers “pop time” is “the time elapsing between the popping sound of the pitch striking the catcher’s mitt and the similar pop when the ball arrives at the glove of the fielder covering second base.” Kyle’s time would rank him somewhere in the 33rd to 40th spot for catcher pop times amongst active Major League Catchers. Brown also recorded the second fastest Cather Velocity with a 72 at PBR Games West.
