Frederick High School’s Girls basketball team was informed on Wednesday of another perk they earned by winning the Maryland 3A State Basketball Championship. The Cadets who in March won their third straight state title are now featured in an interactive touchscreen display at the Women’s Basketball Hall OF Fame.
The Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame opened in June 1999 in Knoxville, Tennessee. It is the only facility of its kind dedicated to all levels of women’s basketball, according to its website. The WBHOF’s is non-profit whose mission is to “Honor the Past, Celebrate the Present, Promote the Future of women’s basketball.”
The state champions touchscreen does “not only list the state champs for each state, but also showcases a team photo and roster.” according the Josh Sullivan the Director of Basketball Operations/Technology for the hall.Frederick is prominently displayed on the State of Maryland’s page along with 1A Champion Pikesville, 2A Champion River Hill, and Charles H. Flowers who were this years 4A State Champions. By pressing Frederick’s name on the touchscreen you are directed to a page featuring the team’s location within the state, their 2018-2019 record of 23-3, the names of each team member along with Head Coach Ashley Bush, and the team’s picture.
