Boys Varsity Track, Girls Varsity Track · Girls Track & Field claim second consecutive regional title, Boys take 4th

Frederick High School girls track & field team won its second consecutive 3A West Regional Championship Wednesday night at Manchester Valley. Frederick finished 27 and a half points ahead of second place Tuscarora.

Jada Sobratti won the 400m dash with a time of 57.39, the senior also placed second in the 100m dash with a time of 12.55, and forth in the 200m dash. Phoenix Staub took fourth in the 400m.

Christan Claggett would win the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.16, Claggett would also win the 300m hurdles with a time of 46.44.

Bawari Ogendi took second place in the 800m run.

The Cadets 4x800m relay team of Diarah Walker, Brianna Feifer, Nasareth Henderson, and Bwari Ogendi finished fourth.

In the field events, Rose Bubakar took third place in the high jump, with Staub coming in sixth.

Ariella Kolani took third in the long jump, Nicole Osei would finish forth, and Rhianna Hall took sixth. Osei would also finish second in the triple jump with Kolani coming in sixth.

Paige Tolbard would win both the shot put and discus. Destiney Noel would finish fourth in the shot put, and Sarah Meredith seventh. Noel would finish third in the discus with Meredith coming in fourth.

Frederick’s boys would finish the regional meet in fourth place overall, their best finish since FHS won the boys regional title in 2013.

Issac Bynum captured first place in the 300m hurdles with a time of 40.55, the junior would also finish second place in the 110m hurdles, finishing with a tim eof 15.51. Emmaniel Jonathas would finish the 300m hurldes in fifth place.

Gerald Norgbe would claim fourth in the 400m run with a time of 51.34.

Thomas Silva finished the 800m in seventh place, teammates Javonuthym Gray would come in eighth and Mario Martinez ninth.

Kisaye Barnes would finish eighth in the 100m dash for FHS.

Adrian Adlan, Chris Matevia, along with Bynum, Gray, claimed fourth in the 4x400m relay. Frederick’s 4×100 meter relay team of Barnes, Baldwin Asante, Mouhamadou Sene, and Torrey Flournoy came in fifth. The 4x20om relay team of Asante, Barnes, Norgbe, and Bynum would also claim fifth place. The Cadets 4x800m relay team of Gray, Silva, Martinez, and Tommy Gacquin would finish sixth.

Senior Gerald Norgbe would win the triple jump with a mark of 44-03.50. Tory McCaa would take fifth in the high jump. Flournoy would come in sixth in the long jump, with Barnes finishing eighth.

Kemarsh Matthews would finish sixth in the discus.
