Frederick High School’s Boys and Girls Track & Field team captured five individual titles at Monday evenings Frederick County Track & Field Championships. The annual event held this year in its 102nd year was the first since 1985 to take place at Frederick High School. The FHS girls would come in third overall scoring 119 points, while the boys would take home fifth place with 79 points.
For the girls Jaida Sobratti captured the 100m dash title with a time of 12.14. Pheonix Staub finshed her 200m race with a time of 26.45 which earned her fifth place.
Christan Claggett’s time of 45.23 would help her take second place in the 300m hurdles, Malaya Reid would take third place.
In the distance events, Bawi Ogendi would finish 7th in the county in the 800m.
The Cadet 4×400 relay team consisting of Sobratti, Staub, Ogendi, and Clagget scorched the track with sub 4 minute first place time of 3:59.14 which will qualify them for New Balance Nations. Their time narrowly missed the school record of 3:56.8 set in 1981. Frederick’s 4x100m team finished in fifth place, as did the 4×800 team. The 4x200m team would take home 6th.
In the field event’s the Cadet girls had another outstanding performance. FHS would finish 1, 2, 3 in the shot put with Paige Tolbard taking first. Destiny Neol and Sarah Meredith would finish second and third. Tolbard would also win the discus event, Noel would come in third.
Rose Bubakar would place third in the girls high jump with Phoenix Staub taking fourth. Nicole Osei would finish second in the triple jump, with Ariella Kolani taking sixth place. Kolani would place fifth in the long jump.
For the boys Kisaye Barnes would finish fifth in the 100m dash and Baldwin Asante would take eighth place in the 200m. Freshman Chris Metevia would finish fifth in the 400m.
Issac Bynum would capture second place in the 300m hurdles and take third place in the boys 110m hurdles. Deon Pierce would take fifth in 100m hurdles while Emmanuel Johnathas would finish eighth in the 300m hurdles.
Javonuthyn Gray would take eighth in the 800m race.
The Cadet boys 4x100m relay team took home 4th place as would the 4x400m and 4×800 teams, the 4x200m team would take 7th.
Kemarsh Matthews would take sixth place in the shot put as well as the discus. Jonathas would take seventh.
Gerald Norgbe would win the county title in the boys triple jump. Torrey Flournoy would place third in the long jump, with Norgbe taking fouth. Kisaye Barnes would also place seventh in the long jump.
