Frederick High School senior Tanner Dixon announced today that he has verbally committed to continue his education and baseball career at Shepherd University. The hard throwing right handed pitcher has been a member of the Cadets baseball team since his freshman year.

Tanner chose Shepherd over his other top choices of Hood College, Stevenson University, and Misericordia University after a recent visit to the schools campus, mainly because of the Ram’s coaching staff.  “I just really liked being around the coaches when I was down there”, Dixon Said.

Shepherd University, located in Shepherdstown, West Virginia and is home to around 3,776 under graduate students.  Shepherd fields 12 NCAA Division II athletic teams.  Currently Shepherd is currently a member of the Mountain East Conference (MEC) but will join the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference for the 2019-20 season. The Rams baseball team won MEC championships in 2016 and 2017, while finishing as runner-up in 2015 and 2018.  Home baseball games are played at Fairfax Field.

Frederick High School Baseball Coach Phil Rhodes commented that “Tanner has worked exceptionally hard to achieve this goal”, adding “we are very proud of him”.

Dixon is the 7th Frederick High School senior to verbally commit this school year but the first for baseball. To see the full list of Cadet commitments past and present click here
