Student Athlete of the Month December

Cooper Chamblee is a freshman and first year wrestler.  He brings a great attitude and humor to the team.  He currently wrestles JV 195 for FHS and went undefeated at the Tri Match vs. Urbana and Tuscarora.  As a first year wrestler, Cooper has learned a great deal about the sport and continuously strives to get better.  Cooper also earned his varsity letter this year for football.

Gabby Farrell is an excellent student, holds down a job, works hard in practice, and has been an unsung hero of the girls swim team this season. She’s a team player and will compete in whichever race she is needed in with no question. Gabby is also a member of many clubs at FHS which included Model UN, Mu Alpha Thera, National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, Interact Club, Cultural Connection, English Honor Society and Rho Kappa Honor Society.  She also offers her talents by volunteering in the community.

Dwayne Garner
Dwayne while soft spoken is intense on the court.  He however is a person of character.  Dwayne is always respectful and goes out of his way to say thank you.  During an intense game vs. THS not only did he lead FHS to victory but during one time out at a pivotal point in the game he took a cup of water and said thank you and made sure his trash was thrown away.  He is  genuine. Dwayne is currently the leading scorer and leading the team in rebounds on our boys’ basketball team with 14 points per game and 9 rebounds per game.

India Keene
India  is Ms. FHS. Since the day she entered FHS she has embodied what it has meant to be a student-athlete. She has played on the varsity basketball team for the past two years and is also a National Honors Society member. She courageously leads both her teammates and classmates but understands that she must serve them at the same time. She has a competitive spirit along with a gigantic heart. On daily basis she challenges both her teammates and herself to become their best selves.  Her value is very much appreciated by her teammates and they look to her for guidance and motivation. She is willing to play any role needed for her team to be successful which shows her selflessness. The FHS motto is “Enter to learn, go forth to serve.” India Keene has already began to serve and your vote will help encourage her to continue to do so.

Treonte Newton
Is a sophomore who leads through hard work as one of the youngest and best talents on the Boys’ Indoor Track Team.
